Day 21 – Saturday

Day 21 – Saturday
Initially we were supposed to be heading over to some of the squares to visit. However in the morning, it started to rain slightly thus the plan was changed and we decided to go tomorrow instead. Thus today become a projecting day. Headed outside for lunch. Suddenly the weather in Dalian went over doing by freezing us a little. Woo. The windy wind made us want to head for the interior as soon as possible. Lunch was delicious. Projecting starts again.

Day 20 - Friday. No school. no tour.

Day 20 – Friday

The touring trips were cancelled due to some issue I guess. Spent my day simply doing the things I love to do. After breakfast i headed back to my room to research and analysis my Design Studio Project, well at least the fun thing was i got to play Tetris (which is the design language or idea for the space). After lunch, headed over to cy’s room to cut out some models while watching (coming soon)...the Horror film of Thailand. Had some sports in the evening, by having to play my favourite sports after so long and that’s basketball. Had dumplings for dinner. The day was simply spent.
Show Luo

My breakfast. Super addicted to it.

Mayday

Tetris playing. Firstly was to entertain. Secondly was to analyze somehow. As my Design Studio Project was having a space using language from this game.

Day 19 - weekly presentation day

Day 19 – Thursday

Today was the weekly review day. Presentation went alright. But there’s still more to go. Like models and space planning and the real technique bits shall start very soon as well. Had lunch over at a Korean-based eating place, I found that quite a few eating places loves Korean food, maybe because of the country ( Korea) being so close to Dalian or something. However i am not really a fan of Korean food but somehow some were quite delicious. Had chicken-based rice, been eating a lot of chicken these days, properly one of my favourite i guess.

Headed for a design talk after lunch, some information was presented and noted. Went over to level 2 for the design exhibition, some of these structures were really well-made and interesting, i guess perhaps one of the objective was to use recycled materials for their structures thus i am able to see paper, pencils, can’s metal and more. Somehow it helps in our thinking process for our GREEN initiative Student Lounge project.
After that headed over to the Dalian-Version of art friend, to get our materials for model-making.
Tomorrow is Friday, however there’s isn’t any touring day for us. It was cancelled due to some reasoning i guess. Whatever it is, we still have on-going stuff to do so yup its fine with not touring.
I still have lots of Dalian not explored yet. Seriously the scenery here is much interesting as compared to Singapore. However i still love Singapore woo in a way or two. More shopping. More touring. More fun =D.
Guess the late sleeping yesterday night lead to a restless body in the evening. Need more rest perhaps. I need basketball too!
Presentation on-going

Day 18 - Wednesday day b4 review

Day 18 – wednesday

Something caught over which eventually leads me to more thoughts on stuff on certain issues. School was as usual. Learning 3D max for the lighting effect. Somehow the thing has gotten into me a little that somehow affected some part of me. Tomorrow would be the pin-up day, the weekly short presentation to see how everyone is doing. Have we gotten a fixed idea on what exactly to head into already? Hmm I guess it’s only half-half of it. This thus leads to an uncertain feeling of what exactly would happen for tomorrow. Also tomorrow would be a half-day tour, which we have yet to know where exactly we are going to or what exactly is going to happen. Everything somehow leads to uncertainty. Lunch as usual. Dinner as usual.
Selling of books near to our hostel

Our lunch.
At night we had group discussion for our weekly review tomorrow. Luckily we came out with something. As somehow we were a little stuck here and there. Somehow its work after all.

Day 17 - DID group blog Entry One.

This enry was taken from the group blog for DID.

It’s already the Day 17 over in Dalian, How is people in Dalian feeling? Having some sort of mixed feelings or something. Or is anyone missing their families and friends in Singapore already? Is everyone coping well with everything here-from food, weather, environment, people, hostel, school and more? Well for me I am getting quite used to the life over in Dalian already, maybe because somehow the stress level in Dalian is lesser as everything is convenient and makes everything accessible easily. Everything seems so near together, living in the hostel definitely makes a great different as living outside of school. At least one would know they will never be late for school and that they would be able to sleep until dawn before heading up and about for school (as the studio is only 8-10minutes walk from the hostel). Everybody is also living very close to each other, everyone on the same particular block which is very near to the library as well. When one would need project discussion, having dinner together, chat together and everything, it has gotten everyone so convenient in a way of living. Where friends lives merely a few steps away from you.

The living environment is great for sleeping, working, living and more. How could anyone asked for something more when it’s already a lot out there. Another thing about living in the hostel is that no crowed MRT or buses in the morning ( yea), no long travelling time ( which leads to time wastage and stuff), no late dinner ( image having to reached home after one hour plus) where in Dalian, one gets food within minutes perhaps. Also no heavy stuff to be carried from place to place for school every day, I mean even if its heavy, it’s only a 10 minutes’ walk( how heavy could one gets).

At least, for now my home-sick level is doing alright, from day 1-17, I guess I have merely talk to my family maybe less than 10 times? Only through the programme call Skype, other than that is merely msn-ing with my sister and that’s about it.

Every week we would have a similar routine of having

Monday – class in the morning. Lunch. GEMS

Tuesday – Class from 9am until 6pm.

Wednesday - Class from 9am until 6pm.

Thursday – Class. Lunch and 1-2pm would be a half-day touring trip around Dalian to better understand the culture and everything around the city.

Friday – Touring for the whole day

Saturday – Depends on individual. But for my group of friends, we will head out with our Dalian Buddies like shopping and more.

Sunday – Become a hostel-stay-in-students. Where projecting stills continues.

I guess by the end of the Dalian study trip, everyone would have gotten more independent or two. Where everything is done by ourselves, with no mummy, no maid or whoever that would be helping us at home. I am getting so used to getting everything in place for myself. From Laundry, daily food supplies, living-hood, money management, cooking, eating out and so much more. In fact I love such independent live, that’s one or the reason why I have chosen to come over for overseas study trip and not be in Singapore, somehow it helps in making me think and ponders over several things that people would be making several mistakes on. I have learnt something precious and close to heart which could never be removed in a way or two.

It’s an experience where one would take it with him or her along the way in their lives.
The remaining 1 month or so is still there for more exploration in Dalian, in oneself, in one’s thinking, in one’s feelings, emotions and more ahead.

If anyone is feeling home-sicked or anything. Don’t be. I guess each and everyone’s family would love to see us doing great in terms of everything in Dalian. Being several miles around from home, guess both parties misses each other. However such experiences only gets once or never. Cherished it perhaps.

May everyone be doing great for the remaining days. Take care woo! =D

Day 17 - Tuesday

Day 17 – Tuesday

Today we had Intech lesson in the morning; it was on the metal construction. Watched video from the national geographic to better understand the construction of it. Headed over to lunch over at FC 1, had a $6 meal which is at least pleasing to the tongue for a while. After lunch, we headed back to the hostel, as there was still a one hour interval before we headed back to the studio for self-learning lessons. Gems lesson was cancelled, not really sure about the real reason behind but however it meant that we will have FREE day in the afternoon. (As gems was at 2pm) However we didn’t really have a FREE day, the rest of the afternoon was spent being at the studio for our Design Studio Project. Thinking skills on the Space planning, further development and more. At least something came along from 2 to 6pm. We headed over for dinner outside of school at a Korean-based eating place. I had sushi as my cravings are calling hard on me (I am a sushi-lover, if one doesn’t know about it). However the portion was small, thus making me feels hungry after I have bathed and stuff. Went over to provision shop around the eating place, to get some snacks for further craving.

Headed over to friend’s hostel room to bath, as our 205 room, was having some sort of piping problems that leads to us (My roommate and I) to head over to other places to bath. Hopefully its gets repaired a.s.a.p. Slept between 10 plus till 12am. Woke up at 12am just specially to talk to my family on Skype. I am glad that they are doing great =D. Hopefully everything else is great on them as well. Well loves. =D
